Milk Program  22806_102649_0.pct22806_102659_1.pct22806_102705_2.pct22806_102711_3.pct

Why Milk?
Unlike other beverages, milk is an excellent source of calcium plus other bone building nutrients, so important during the years of rapid growth. No other beverage comes close to giving your child the 15 essential nutrients found in every glass of milk. Chocolate milk also deserves a place in your child lunch at school... like white milk, (2%, 1% or skim) there are 15 essential nutrients in every glass. According to Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating, children up to 9 years of age need 2-3, 8 oz. (1 cup) servings everyday and youths (age 10-16) need 3-4, 8 oz. (1cup) servings daily

Ecole Bonaventure offers a milk program which supports good nutrition.
It's Healthy
We have a selection of:
- White and Chocolate milk
- Pure Fruit Juices: Apple, Orange, and Bottled Water
We are also introducing the smaller juice boxes (200 ml) for the younger students

It's Easy
Send $15.00 cheque or cash with your child, who will go to the office after morning announcements to buy a card.

It's Convenient
At lunch time the students come to the "milk and Juice" fridge where they will make their choice. Two leadership students will be on hand to hole punch the cards and give the beverage to the students

It's Economical
For $15.00 your child will receive a card which entitles the student to 20 servings of white or chocolate milk or 20 juices. We have now added a card with 30 small juices. They may also pruchase a card with 10 milk + 10 juices. A student may also choose bottled water with either card.

Please Note
If you prefer your child to choose only white milk or a certain type of juice, please mark this down on the envelope with your payment.

This program has proved to be very popular with both students, staff and parents.
As part of the milk program, the Manitoba Milk Producers also supply a variety of prizes for us to run "Spirit Week" which we dubbed "Fit and Moo Week" which usually takes place the last week before Spring Break.  The theme revolves around fitness and nutrition. Students and Staff get involved in fun filled activities and dress up days where they earn spirit bucks and win prizes.
