Philosophy of Inclusion
Inclusion is a way of thinking and acting that allows every individual to feel accepted, valued and safe. An inclusive community consciously evolves to meet the changing needs of its members. Through recognition and support, an inclusive community provides meaningful involvement and equal access to the benefits of citizenship.

Ecole Bonaventure strongly believes that all students must be included and given the opportunity to fully achieve their individual potential.  The resource teacher along with all the members of the school team including: administration, teachers, parents, specialists, students and support staff, all work together to provide the children  of Bonaventure the best possible education.

The resource teacher is available to assist teachers and students, in both French and English. The resource teacher can help classroom teachers by assessing and observing students and providing input into adapted learning programs (enrichment or remediation). The resource teacher can assess students and plan and implement programming according to the needs of each student.
As well, services are provided by a school psychologist, a social worker, a speech and language pathologist, occupational and physio therapist.

We provide a Peer Tutoring Program to help young students experiencing difficulties in their learning. Grade 5 and 6 students who are members of the Leadership Club are carefully matched up with kindergarten to grade 4 students to help them in areas such as Mathematics, English Language Arts, and Français. The older students benefit by becoming the "teacher" and the younger students benefit by spending more quality time on specific concepts chosen by their classroom teacher.
