Mapleton School's Technology
At Mapleton School we have many opportunities to use technology. In our computer lab we have emacs and imac workstations for all students to use. The emac computers were purchased with funds that our teachers received from doing GrassRoots Grants. We also have two carts with laptops that can be taken to the classrooms for classroom use.
In our library we have a pod of 5 imacs and in the classrooms students have access to older MacIntosh machines.
There is a timetable for the lab which allows all classes to be able to come to the computer lab for half hour or one hour sessions. We have a Smart board available for all teachers to use to demonstrate the lesson to the students and allow for student participation. Teachers use the computer lab for integrating technology into the curriculum. Programs used in our lab are Kid Pix Deluxe 4, Inspiration, Kidspiration, Cross Country Canada, Wiggleworks, All the Right Type, iPhoto, iMovie, Garage Band, Microsoft Office and the Internet.

We have purchased digital cameras, rechargeable batteries and chargers for all of our classrooms. Our students will be using these cameras constantly as they help the teachers making a slideshow for each class which runs on a laptop during Parent/Teacher Interviews.
