Mid-Term Reports: A Change in Our Practice
As the assessment and reporting practices of the Lord Selkirk School division and that of the entire Province of Manitoba continue to change and develop you will see some changes here at Ecole Selkirk Junior High. The first change you will see is to interim (mid-term) reports. We will only be sending interim reports home to the parents and guardians of students we view as at-risk of failing a course OR not achieving at a level we think they are capable of in consideration of our professional judgment and in consultation with parents’ views.
However, we are encouraging ALL PARENTS AND GUARDIANS to communicate regularly and openly with their young person’s teacher(s). No report card should come as a surprise – with regular communication both the staff and the parents should know where their young person stands academically and behaviourally. Please call the school to talk to your child’s teacher or the Principal, Mr. Davies if you need clarification or have comments on this aspect of our assessment and communication plan. 1 |
