The National Canoeing Program
The Paddle Canada Canoeing Program is a compressive canoeing program outlined by a manual.
Basically, the program consists of a number of skill levels and instructor levels. After the Canoeing Basic Skills level, the program branches into different disciplines, lake water (LW), moving water (MW), canoe tripping (CT), canoe poling (CP), and coastal canoeing (CC), etc. There is a separate Paddle Canada kayaking program (river and sea). Within each discipline, there are 3 skill levels, 3 instructor levels, and 3 instructor trainer levels. At the top, there is a master instructor.
In the past, in Manitoba, most of the courses offered have been for flat water, lake water, and moving water with some emphases on canoe tripping. Manitoba is now experiencing a growing demand for all courses as more individuals seek certifications.
The following Website very briefly outlines the basic progression and provide some general information of the canoeing program.
