Numeracy

Numeracy is an essential life skill that empowers students to think logically and solve problems with confidence.  We believe that mathematical understanding is about making sense of numbers, patterns and relationships in everyday life.  Our goal is for each student to see themselves as a curious and capable learner of mathematics.

High-quality instruction in numeracy is rooted in best practices and supported by current research.  Teachers in LSSD design meaningful learning experiences that invite students to think critically, make connections, explore and question mathematical ideas.  Through hands on exploration, collaboration and the integration of digital tools, students develop deep conceptual understanding.

We recognize that every student's mathematical journey is unique.  For this reason, our staff use a variety of instructional strategies and targeted supports to meet individual needs, while helping students see math as relevant and important in their daily lives.
