Lord Selkirk School Division Nutrition Program Receives Provincial Recognition
Lord Selkirk School Division (LSSD) is proud to announce that its Nutrition Program has been awarded the Nello Altomare Award for Excellence in School Nutrition. The award was presented on Friday, April 17, recognizing the division’s leadership, innovation, and commitment to student well-being through inclusive and accessible nutrition programming.
Accepting the award on behalf of the division were LSSD Nutrition Program chefs Joshua Hogan and Paul Augst, whose leadership and dedication have been instrumental in the program’s success. They were joined at the ceremony by nutrition driver Murray Wilkinson, Robert Smith School Principal Kristin Fillion, Chair of the Board, Lena Kublick and Superintendent Jerret Long.
This provincial recognition highlights the outstanding efforts of LSSD’s Nutrition Program team, whose work ensures that students have consistent access to healthy meals in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Through strong partnerships, creative program design, and a focus on meeting the diverse needs of school communities, the program has become a model of excellence.
LSSD’s Nutrition Program reflects the core principles of the Universal School Nutrition Program, including universal access, nutritional quality, cultural inclusivity, and responsiveness to local needs. By removing barriers related to food insecurity, the program plays a key role in supporting student success, well-being, and engagement in learning.
This achievement would not be possible without the dedication of staff, community partners, and volunteers who work together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students each day.
Lord Selkirk School Division extends its sincere congratulations and thanks to everyone involved in this impactful initiative.
