True Inclusion Program

About Us

The True Inclusion Program (T.I.P.) is an outreach program based out of the Student Services Centre which provides services to K-9 students in the Lord Selkirk School Division.

Program Goals

  • to support authentic inclusion for exceptional students, where they are able to achieve their IEP and curricular goals in the context  of the classroom community, to the benefit of all the learners
  • to provide programming, behavioural, and materials supports to facilitate student success
  • to teach meaningful, age appropriate cooperative and life skills, and provide opportunities to use these skills; creating the foundation for the student to function as independently as possible in society
  • to work collaboratively with classroom teachers, school teams, and student services specialists to provide the best programming for all students

Eagle's Nest Program

With the Eagle's Nest Program, students are involved in a community access program which includes swimming, bowling, music classes, going to restaurants, movie days and other field trips. The Eagle's Nest Program provides opportunities for students to develop communication skills, social competency and friendships, participate in life-long leisure activities, and improve physical fitness in a positive environment. The Eagle's Nest Program is not a rewards-based program, but rather, one which is written into the individualized educational plan of exceptional students in LSSD. It is a big part of each student’s development and provides recreational experiences, which familiarizes students to the local community and what it has to offer.
